You don’t just take iPod nano on your run. You let it take you. Music is your motivation. But what if you want to go further? Thanks to a unique partnership between Nike and Apple, your iPod nano becomes your favorite workout companion and coach.

Consisting of a wireless sensor and receiver, the the Nike + iPod Sport Kit works exclusively with your Nike+ shoes and iPod nano to give you real-time feedback during workouts. It also lets you track your performance on your Mac or PC.

Get in Gear
Meet the three must-haves for the ultimate synthesis of sport and music: a pair of Nike+ shoes, an iPod nano, and the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. Find out what happens when the leading name in sports and the leading name in digital music team up to take on your workout.

First, get a pair of Nike+ shoes. Only Nike+ shoes feature a built-in pocket under the insole specially engineered for the Nike + iPod sensor. For seamless, stylish integration, add Nike+ apparel that holds your iPod nano and receiver.

Next, get an iPod nano. Skip-free playback, a brilliant display, and up to 1,000 songs in an impossibly small iPod keep you light on your feet. And only iPod nano syncs your complete workout data with both iTunes and nikeplus.com.

Lastly, you’ll need the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. The Sport Kit allows your Nike+ shoe to talk to your iPod nano. The sensor uses a sensitive accelerometer to measure your activity, then wirelessly transfers this data to the receiver that’s plugged into the dock connector on your iPod nano.

Rock ‘n’ Run
See the minutes tick by. Watch the miles unfold. Hear real-time feedback. All to your favorite music–including the one song that always gets you through the home stretch. As your run or walk, the sensor sends information to your iPod nano, tracking your time, distance, pace, and calories burned. If you choose, real-time, spoken feedback can even alert you to milestones throughout your workout.

Stay in Sync
Sync up after you cool down. Just as seamlessly as it syncs your music, photos, and calendars, iPod nano also syncs your run. Simply connect iPod nano to your Mac or PC, and your workout data syncs to both iTunes and nikeplus.com, where you can see your runs, set goals, and challenge friends. The Internet is an open road. Staying in sync is as easy as 1-2-3:

But thanks to the Nike + iPod sensor and receiver, iPod nano also transfers your workout data to the Internet as soon as you sync. Connect your iPod, and iTunes takes over, automatically syncing all your run data and sending it to nikeplus.com.

Compare: Remember each run. Analyze your performance. Break your last record. Stay in tune with your goals. Nikeplus.com keeps stats on every step. Check your speed, distance, and calories burned–by run, by week, or by month–all from a graphical interface as intuitive as it is stunning.

Drug pumps (intrathecal drug delivery systems) deliver pain medication to the fluid-filled area surrounding the spinal cord (called the intrathecal space). Because pain medication goes directly to the pain receptors near the spine (instead of going through your circulatory system), a drug pump offers significant pain control using a small fraction of the dose that oral medication requires.

About the Drug Delivery System

The system consists of a pump and catheter, both of which are surgically placed under the skin. The pump is a round device that stores and delivers pain medication. It is typically placed in your abdomen. The catheter (a thin, flexible tube) is inserted into your spine and connected to the pump.

During the surgery, your doctor fills the pump with pain medication using a needle. The pump sends the medication through the catheter to the spinal area where pain receptors are located. You return to your doctor’s office for more medicine when the pump needs to be filled.
How It Works

The spinal cord is like a highway for pain signals that are heading to the brain. When the pump sends pain medication directly to the receptors near the spine, it interrupts the pain signals before they reach the brain.
Our Products

Medtronic offers a variety of drug pump systems tailored for different symptoms, including:

* Programmable systems – With the SynchroMed® System, doses can be scheduled and changed using an external programming device
* Non-programmable systems – The IsoMed® System dispenses medication at a constant flow rate
* Physician programmer – A computer at your doctor’s office that lets your doctor adjust drug pump system parameters (programmable pumps only)
* Patient programmer – A hand-held device that allows you to deliver the dosage of medication that your doctor prescribes (for programmable pumps only)

If a drug pump is an option for you, your doctor will work with you to select the pain treatment system that is most appropriate for your needs.

A neurostimulator is a surgically placed device about the size of a stopwatch. It delivers mild electrical signals to the epidural space near your spine through one or more leads (special medical wires). The electrical signals cause a tingling sensation in the area of your back and leg pain.

How It Works

Neurostimulation provides pain relief by modifying (modulating) the pain messages before they reach the brain. Think of it like rubbing your “funny bone” after you’ve bumped it – the rubbing masks the feeling of pain. Similarly, the tingling produced by the neurostimulation system masks the feeling in your area of pain.

You can adjust the strength and location of stimulation using a handheld programmer. For example, you can regulate different levels of stimulation at different times of the day or for various activities – such as walking, sleeping, or sitting.
About the Neurostimulation System

A complete neurostimulation system consists of five parts:

* Neurostimulator – The device that generates the electrical impulses (usually placed under the skin in your abdomen)
* Leads – Special medical wires that deliver neurostimulation to the epidural space near the spine
* Extension – The cable under the skin that connects the lead(s) to the neurostimulator (optional on some systems)
* Physician’s programmer – A computer at your doctor’s office that lets your doctor adjust the neurostimulation system and set stimulation parameters
* Patient’s programmer – A handheld device you can use at home to customize the stimulation (within the settings your doctor has selected)

The neurostimulation system does not make any noise. It may be felt as a small bump under your skin, but does not normally show through your clothes.
